Norfolk

There is something undeniably magical about Norfolk. A county of vast horizons and luminous light, where sweeping skies stretch endlessly above golden fields and quiet waterways. Here, time seems to slow. Windmills turn lazily against big blue skies, marshes glow pink at sunset, and the air carries the scent of salt and wild grasses. It is a place of space, stillness and simple beauty.

In North Norfolk, that magic feels even more pronounced. Along the coastline, enormous sandy beaches unfold beneath ever-changing skies, backed by dunes, pinewoods and tidal creeks. The quality of light has long drawn artists and photographers, while the peace and openness restore even the busiest of minds.

Among the area’s most iconic landmarks is Cley Windmill an 18th-century tower mill that stands proudly on the edge of the marshes, one of the most photographed scenes on the coast. Nearby Holkham Beach is often described as one of the most beautiful beaches in Britain: vast, unspoilt and backed by sweeping dunes and pine forests. Its scale and serenity are breathtaking in every season. Wells-next-the-Sea captures the charm of a traditional seaside town, with its working harbour, sailing boats and colourful beach huts lining the shore.

My daughter Ruth and I had a wonderful week at Summer Cottage. The cottage is picturesque yet tastefully modernised. The garden offers seating, a picnic table, and views across fields—ideal on sunny mornings. A lovely woodland path leads to Glandford, with a great bistro and an art and craft centre. Siobhan was a perfect host. We highly recommend Summer Cottage.

We are in our 70’s and have stayed in many holiday lets at home and abroad over the years and this is without doubt the best ever. A lovely magical location, beautiful accommodation, spotlessly clean, and very very well presented and equipped. Charming little welcome pack of local cake, cookies and apple juice awaited us. Cannot recommend this highly enough and it comes with the most friendly and helpful host. All absolutely perfect 👌🏼

Summer Cottage is surrounded by beautiful woods and nature, it's a really lovely location. The house is cosy and homely with everything needed for a lovely holiday. Our boys absolutely loved the swings and being surrounded by garden, woods and fields.

They were able to spot hares, dear, rabbits and a fox.

It’s a special place which we would love to return to. Set in beautiful woodlands during the day with cosy evenings by the fire in the evening.

What a beautiful cottage, set in beautiful gardens surrounded by

gorgeous countryside. The building, furnishings and equipment were

of high quality and spotlessly clean.

The location is exceptionally quiet and very private. We loved it!

The Georgian town of Holt with its handsome architecture, independent boutiques, galleries and cafés, offers refined shopping and relaxed afternoons.

A short drive inland Blickling Hall widely believed to be the birthplace of Anne Boleyn in around 1501 stands as one of Norfolk’s finest estates, its grand red-brick façade, historic interiors and sweeping parkland offering a glimpse into centuries of English heritage.
